Center your ministry on the teachings and actions of Jesus Christ, the ultimate role model for all Christians, especially those who preach the Gospel. Proclaim his heavenly message and embody his exemplary holiness, a legacy he left for us to follow. To keep Christ at the forefront of your mind and heart, cultivate your inner life. This will provide the strength, energy, and spiritual nourishment you need for your active and sacrificial ministry. Without the solace of a spirit connected to God, the true source of joy, it’s difficult to persevere in such a demanding life. (Circular Letter of the Founder n. 1, Naples, Italy January 19th, 1906)
THAILAND and SAINT FRANCIS XAVIER ORATORY: THE XAVERIAN MISSIONARY COMMUNITY IN UMPHANG
New Tertiary Education Program for Marginalized Communities in Nakhonsawan
The Diocese of Nakhonsawan has partnered with Jesuits Worldwide Learning (JWL) to offer a tertiary education program for marginalized communities, including young ethnic minorities fleeing conflict in Myanmar.
The program prioritizes Karen and other ethnic minorities, offering them a chance to pursue higher education. Saint Francis Xavier Oratory, with extensive experience working with these groups, will host the program. All programs emphasize Ignatian pedagogy, which focuses on holistic development (‘cura personalis’).
The program offers seven short-term diploma programs (6-8 months) and a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies (3 years). Professional diplomas and degrees are provided by JWL in partnership with universities in Europe, India, and the USA. The program requires English proficiency, with a preparatory Global English Language (GEL) program available.
On July 1st, 2024, the center officially launched the GEL program with its first six students, representing both Burma and Thailand.
This program empowers marginalized communities through education, fostering a more just and equitable society.
Meanwhile, the Association of Siam Architects (Thai Architects Organization) has published in his annual journal (Asa Journal) an interesting peer review on the architectural work of our Saint Francis Xavier Oratory Chapel with title the “Holy Crab”. (Tardelly Reynaldo Fulgentio s.x.)
