Xaverian Missionary Appointed as Auxiliary Bishop of Belem, Brazil
Pope Francis has appointed our confrere Fr. Paolo Andreolli, S.X., as Auxiliary Bishop of the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Belém do Pará, Brazil, assigning him the titular see of Altava.
Fr. Paolo Andreolli, S.X. was born on 16 December 1972 in Noventa Vicentina (VI). He entered the Institute of Vicenza on September 15, 1984. On 21 August 1993, in Ancona, he made his first religious and missionary profession. On March 5, 2000, she made her perpetual profession in Parma. On 17 September 2000, he received priestly ordination in the cathedral of Parma.
After about 7 years of service in the field of Missionary and Vocation Animation in the community of Desio (2000-2007), he was assigned to the Circumscription of North Brazil where in addition to pastoral service (São Felix do Xingu e Nossa Senhora Aparecida de Tucumã) and formation (Ananindeua) he was engaged in Vocation Promotion.
His episcopal ordination will take place on Saturday, April 15, 2023, at 9 am, in the Metropolitan Cathedral of Belém (Pará), and will be presided over by the Archbishop of Belém, Dom Alberto Taveira Corrêa. By virtue of ordination, the new bishop will immediately assume the functions of the episcopate, alongside Dom Antônio de Assis Ribeiro, also an auxiliary bishop, and the archbishop.
