Close to 5000 Catholic College Students Converge in Florida for New Years
Posted On January 7, 2010
Xaverian postulant Renato Yapaulo, Fr. Carl Chudy, Fr. Victor Mosele, and a friend in the picture, along with Xaverian students Francois Noah and Tyler Hagan gathered with almost 5000 Catholic college students to share the global mission of the Church and to promote missionary vocations.
Founded in 1998 by Curtis Martin, FOCUS, the Fellowship of Catholic University Students, is a national outreach to colleges and universities throughout the United States. Through small group Bible studies, large group leadership training, and one-on-one mentoring, FOCUS brings the fullness of life and truth in the Catholic Church to college students and gives them the tools to help them share this good news with their friends. FOCUS is working to play a vital role in the new evangelization.
In less than 11 years, FOCUS has grown to serve 39 campuses in 21 states. The fruits of our work have been many, including: the fostering more than 140 vocations to the priesthood and the religious life, as well as preparing thousands of young adults first to live, then to take the Catholic faith to their friends and peers…
It was an amazing youth conference and a symbol of the hope that belongs to the future of the mission of the Church through American youth such as these. Take a look at some pics in Fickr here.
