2011 TEDPrize winner JR launches new global art project Inside OuT

The youngest TEDPrize winner since the award began in 2005, 28 year old artist JR, received $100,000 and the chance to make “One Wish To Change The World”.
On Weds 2 March, the annual TED conference in Long Beach heard how JR plans to use his prize. This week he has launched INSIDE OUT – a large-scale participatory art project that transforms messages of personal identity into pieces of artistic work. Upload a portrait. Receive a poster. Paste it for the world to see.
Using the TED platform to launch this collaborative initiative, his proposal directly reaches one of the biggest global networks of humanitarian thinkers and pioneers who it is hoped will contribute their support by helping to promote and sustain the project. JR has always staunchly refused to accept corporate sponsorship: Inside Out is a call to people around the world to join in his series of portrait projects, as individuals or communities. Their images and stories will be documented and shared as the artwork builds into an international narrative of the unseen and unsaid.
What a unique and wonderful way to meditate on the dignity and sacredness of each human being!
